Social distancing : The new normal

Social distancing: The new normal

Social distancing: Before 2020 these words wouldn't have held any pragmatically significant meaning. However, little were we aware going to have to face this behemoth of a crisis called COVID-19. Suddenly, this phrase became vogue and were prominently displayed on an almost infinite number of COVID-19 guideline pamphlets and prime news channels.

Social distancing refers to maintaining minimum distance between people.
It's being implemented in order to check the spread of COVID-19 in situations and places where human presence is a requisite for operations of those facilities and services to happen. World Health Organisation (WHO) mandates the minimum distance to maintained to be 1 metre (3 feet) and many countries are conscientiously abiding this guideline, though there are some slight deviations in the minimum distance to be maintained. Social distance is an extremely potent method for curtailing the spread of COVID-19 especially community transmission. If followed religiously and properly this will prevent many cases from even arising and will hence also curb many deaths as well.

In closing, I would like to advise that all of us should try our best to avoid physical contact and when we've to come in contact with people we should follow social distancing and also implore other authorities to devise, implement and abide by the social distancing norms and also generate awareness at various levels and on platforms with a militant fervour.
