What lockdown has taught me
What lockdown has taught me
The novel coronavirus came down on our lives like a deadly avalanche comes down on the unsuspecting mountaineer. It changed the course of our society in an unprecedented amount of time. Most of the world gorund to a halt, lives and livelihood endangered and our routines have become unrecognisable. This unprecedented situation has brought along some very glaring negatives. Economic losses and loss of employment security comparable to those seen in the great depression, marked difficulties in availing essential services and goods in urban and rural centres alike and one of the most devestating casualties claimed by this travesty, is undoubtedly human lives.
However even in these grim times a glimmer of hope shines bright, perhaps pointing towards bright future. For instance, lockdowns imposed on citizens of various nations depriving them of certain services such as hairdressing, restaurants, etc. has made them either perform these services on their own or learn that these aren't as important as they previously thought. COVID-19 also acts as a common antagonist for people across the globe, hence allwos them to drop their differences and grudges ushered in a new era of international cooperation of especially areas such as medical and pharmaceutical research and aid and relief distribution, leading to significant progress in these fields. Also due to the disruption and contraction of industrial and economic activities, nature was able to convalesce to an unprecedented degree.
In conclusion, I would like to say maybe this catastrophe isn't as catastrophic as we thought!
